Welcome to The Artful Crafter Digest March 01, 2008 |
| Hi Last month I shared a list of things I know I should do.
1. I should reorganize my craft room. I actually got a bunch of Valentine’s Day articles up before Feb. 14th and have already put up a few Easter articles. YAY! And being that Valentine’s Day occurred during the month, I even told my DH I loved him more than usual. Now I just have to keep the momentum going. I made the duck soup and it was terrible. Goes to show you that what we sometimes think is an important priority is really a waste of precious time. I haven’t gotten to 1 or 4 yet, but I did get my car washed; I just e-mailed my dear sister; and, as you read this my DH and I are in Cancun with my brother and sister-in-law for our first pure vacation in eight years!. I expect to come back refreshed and energized. Of course, getting ready to go away means that I had to write this newsletter even earlier than usual and do everything else that I would have done the last week of the month. Oh well, as they say, “There is no free lunch.” If you would like to see what’s going on at The Artful Crafter more frequently than this monthly newsletter allows, please visit The Artful Crafter blog and mark it as one of your favorites. Thank you for subscribing to “The Artful Crafter Digest”. As always, your comments, suggestions and questions are welcome. Paying the Bills In order to allow us to bring you The Artful Crafter website, blog and newsletter without charge, we have always carried advertising and our advertisers thank you for your patronage. Over the next few months you will notice new and different kinds of ads on the site and in the blog. If you have any comments, positive or negative, about these ads, please send us your opinions. We would also appreciate it if you would take this brief demographic survey to help us serve you better in the future. Thanks.
Eileen
Oops – Sorry! My apologies for the bad link in last month’s newsletter. Several readers wrote asking, “Where is It?” Unfortunately once the newsletter has gone out there is no way to retrieve and correct it. (Kind of like that letter you didn’t mean to mail or the e-mail you misdirect to the boss you were venting about.) Here is the correct link to the article on how to Iron a Photo onto a Tile for a unique plaque. What Else is New on The Artful Crafter This Month? If you’d like to make some keepsake Easter eggs, learn about the Eastern European traditional art form of Creating Beautiful Wax Resist Decorated Eggs, also known as pisanka or pisanica. Here’s another great Spring craft project and it’s perfect for kids of all ages: How to Make Tissue Paper Flowers. And here’s another kids’ craft project. This one is suitable for teens and up: How to Make Quilled Paper Earrings. People who don’t know about paper quilling will never guess what you made them with! If you or someone you know still sends handwritten letters by snail mail, here’s how to Make Your Own Stationery Set of writing paper and matching envelopes. Learn how to Add WOW to your Digital Graphics using Photoshop Styles. You can make your digital scrapbook embellishments look like anything from velvet to glitter to gold using these wonderful Photoshop toys. Get in on the Action with Photoshop Actions. Photoshop Actions are automated processes that you perform with basically one click. I purchased Photo Basics 5001 from Scrap Girls and am having a ball with the set. If you click on the “Get in on the Action …” link above you can see the first layout I did using the Photo Actions. I wanted to rescue and coordinate two 1969 photos of my son taken as a baby. Finally, visit Holiday Crafts for a list of all the Easter articles I have added.
Reader Letter of the Month: Welcome Feedback This is a comment that Tricia left on The Artful Crafter blog about the layout of my son. It’s so nice to receive unsolicited feedback. I don’t know if this is true for all artists but I find it very difficult to judge my own work. It’s also hard for me to tell when something is truly finished. There always seems to be something more I could do to make it better. ;-) “What a beautiful job you did on this page. The classic look is just wonderful and brings back thought of easier times and special moments. You captured the feel very well.”
Tricia Thanks so much Tricia!
