Welcome to The Artful Crafter Digest: - July 2006 July 01, 2006 |
| Hi The first article below is an announcement of a craft event coming up in New Jersey. After we received the request from a reader to help publicize their Fall Festival, we got to thinking perhaps we could provide this public service more broadly. Click here to see the result, The Artful Crafter's Craft Event Calender. To get your event posted, just click on the link on that page. Be sure to provide all the necessary data and include a short description. The calendar, run by Google, will provide the details, as well as a map of the area where your event will be held. If we have enough advance notice (and space in the newsletter) we may also be able to send out a notice like the one below to our subscribers. Then help us get the word out by telling all your crafting friends to subscribe to The Artful Crafter Digest. In a similar vein, we’re wondering if readers would like us to add a message board to The Artful Crafter? What do you think? Click here and let us know if you think this would be helpful. Also, you can send in your messages if you have any you wish to post. This is our second birthday. We'd like to thank all of you for helping to make The Artful Crafter a success. Eileen Calling New Jersey Area Crafters! Crafters needed! Upon reading the headline above you may think we’re carrying this crafting thing too far; but we’re talking about how to cut thick layered (sandwiched) materials – in this case to make a computer mouse pad. Read about the best tools to die cut anything from cardstock to metal to mouse sandwiches here.
Reader Letter of the Month Thanks for all of your important information for all of us with questions. When one’s nana has passed, taking the knowledge [of her generation], it's a loss felt by many. Marena I was really touched by your comment. Let’s remind all our readers and friends. If you are still so fortunate to have your nana and/or your mom with you, talk to them.
They have so much to share and pass on. Don’t let this piece of your heritage be lost. Whether it’s family recipes or stories, the family tree or diseases that “run in the family”, learn what you can, while you can. So now I’ve been called Lovely Craftie by one reader and I guess I could call myself “Nana to all Crafters” after your letter. I wonder which one of my nostalgia articles caught your eye. Was it Ron Popeil’s Plastic Flower Making Kit? Or perhaps it was Fun Film. Please keep those “do you remember” and “where can I find” questions coming. I enjoy our little trips down memory lane!
