An Indispensable Beading Tool

Bead Stringing Boards

A bead stringing board is an indispensable tool for beaders.

I looked at your How to Bead Your Own Sandals project and thought it was brilliant because I have wanted to do that to mine for ages.

Could you please tell me what the item you arrange and measure your creation on is called. I've tried to find it but had no luck.

It's a brilliant tool for arranging and working out your designs.

I look forward to hearing from you.

That clever tray is called a bead board, bead stringing board or sometimes bead palette. I wouldn’t be without mine!

They’re quite affordable and can be found in almost any craft store that carries beads.

Bead boards are generally made of lightweight plastic covered with flocking to keep the beads in place while you work.

A gray or blue surface reduces eyestrain.

They have two or three channels which allow you to design multi-strand necklaces and bracelets or even lay out more than one design at a time.

The channels for arranging the beads are marked in inches or centimeters (sometimes both) so you can easily measure and adjust bracelet and necklace lengths during the design process.

With the U-shaped version as is shown in the photo, it’s a snap to center a pendant or any design where you want the two sides to mirror each other.

Finally, the boards have several recessed storage bins - perfect for organizing beads, findings and stringing materials. Some even come with a transparent snap-on lid so you can bead on the go.

I’m so glad you like my sandal design :-D

Good luck with yours.
