How to Hang a Blanket
Turn a Colorful Blanket Into a Decorative Wall Hanging
I want to hang a throw blanket on my nursery wall but I want to cause as little damage to the blanket as possible and be able to take it down to wash easily.
How do I do this?

If the blanket is not too heavy, hand sew a strip of Velcro on the back of the blanket along the hanging edge. Be sure to sew the Velcro in a straight line so that the blanket will hang properly. The soft fuzzy strip goes fuzzy-side up on the blanket.
Staple or glue the other half of the Velcro strip to a piece of wood. If the blanket is an heirloom or prized possession, paint the wood strip first.
This will prevent acid from the wood coming in contact with the fabric and eating it away over time. Mount the wood strip on the wall.
Nails will do if you can find studs where you want to hang the blanket. If no studs are within range, use anchors.
Hand sew a strip of cotton twill rug binding straight along the hanging edge.
When you sew the second edge of the twill tape, lay the blanket face down and place the rod under the twill tape while you sew.
This will ensure that the rod fits in the channel and also avoid any bulge on the front of the blanket as it hangs.
Once assembled, the rod can be balanced on two angled nails or screws. Be sure to use a level to get the nails at the same height.
Alternatively you can suspend the rod from monofilament run through two eye screws attached to the molding or close to your ceiling.
With either of these methods, it will be quite easy to take the blanket down for cleaning and quickly re-hang it.
