How to Make a Multi-Strand Fiber Bracelet

These stunning fiber bracelets are super easy to make.

Bracelets (or necklaces) like this are so much fun and really easy to make.

Add a bit of bling with shiney beads that move when the wearer does (great for fidgeters!) or use sparkle and eyelash yarns.

You can mix and match fibers for really unique looks.

Fiber Bracelet Materials

  • An 8-inch wide piece of cardboard with two ¼-inch notches cut directly across from each other. This frame will make the smallest loops 7 ½ inches long; the notches assure that the strands graduate in length as you go so they will hang properly when worn.
  • 1 ball Knit-Cro-Sheen Metallic crochet thread in gold or silver
  • 60 beads that will string on the crochet thread
  • Tape
  • Scissors
  • Darning needle that will fit both the crochet thread and your beads
  • Aleene’s Clear Gel Tacky Glue
  • 2 large metal bell caps to match the thread (the kind with a ring on top for attaching a jump ring)
  • 2 small jump rings
  • Clasp of your choice
  • Chain nose pliers
  • Round nose pliers

How to Make a Fiber Bracelet

Tape the end of the crochet thread to the cardboard frame as shown.

Make 30 loops around the frame (to form a 60-strand bracelet). Measure an additional 6 inches of thread and cut.

fiber bracelet step one

Thread the cut end of thread onto the needle and string 60 beads.

fiber bracelet step two

Unwind all of the loops and slide the beads back to the beginning.

fiber bracelet step three

Rewind the loops, keeping just one bead on every (future) strand. That is, leave one bead on the top of the first loop and one bead on the back, one bead on the top of the second loop and one bead on the back ... and so on.

fiber bracelet step four

Remove the tape and tie the two ends together positioning the knot at one of the notched ends.

fiber bracelet step five

At this point, all the loops would come apart if you were to drop the skein.

You need to tie the strands tightly together on each side; then wind another piece of thread about ¼-inch in from each side and tie tightly.

fiber bracelet step six

Put a dab of tacky glue on all the knots and let dry.

fiber bracelet step seven

Remove skein from the cardboard frame.

fiber bracelet step eight

Now you’re ready to add the clasps.

fiber bracelet step nine

Put a dab of tacky glue into a metal bell cap.

Put the bell cap around one tied end and pinch the bell tight.

Repeat on the other side. Let the glue dry thoroughly.

Add jump rings and whatever type closure you desire.
