Peek-a-Boo Card Design

An Excellent Card Design for Younger Children's Birthdays

Peek-a-Boo Card Design

How to Make a Peek-a-Boo Card Design

Kids love cards that do something: cards that pop up or have pop out pieces like a button they can wear or paper dolls and outfits. Here’s an idea for a pop-up card made using PrintShop.

It’s a cute card as is – with the bunny rabbit appearing to play peek-a-boo; but making the bunny actually do the peek-a-boo move evokes squeals of delight from the one- to three-year old set.

Older siblings will enjoy making it work for the toddlers – over and over and over.

Here’s the bunny with paws open to reveal the birthday wish. “Hi Sweetie, Can you play Peek-A-Boo? It’s me saying Happy Birthday to you!” Awwww.

Peek-a-Boo Card Design

This is a flat card 8 ˝ inches tall and 5 ˝ inches wide; so design the card on one half of a landscape orientation document.

Copy it twice so that you can cut out the paws that will open and close. Use the Freeform Crop tool in the Photo Tools box to cut and copy the bunny’s right paw from one copy and the left paw from the other.

Move the paw copies to the blank half of the page.

Create a white rectangle using the Shape Tool in the Drawing Tool box. Size it to form a small tab on the side of each bunny paw. Lasso each paw and tab; then Group them. Copy so that you have two right paws and two left.

Print on cardstock. Cut out the card and all four paws.

Glue the two right paws back to back; repeat with the left. [This is so the furry paws will be visible whether they are open or closed.] Use a craft knife to cut slits in the card for the paws.

Insert the paws and tape or glue them in place.

Open the paws and measure the length required for the inside message strip.

Create the inside message strip, adding tabs on the two ends as you did for the paws.

Print; cut; and attach to the open arms of your bunny rabbit.

Accordion-fold the message so that it will be hidden inside the paws when they are closed.
