Beaded Ceiling Fan Charms

Decorate with Ceiling Fan/Light Pull Charms

Beaded Ceiling Fan Charm Pull

Dress up your fan and light pull chains with these lovely ceiling fan charms. You can color coordinate them to your décor.

Buy the kit which consists of a large wire-sculpted “head pin” which you string with beads and a short length of pull chain with a loop on one end and a connector that will attach to your existing fan or light pull chain on the other. The kit costs about $2.

Or, you can make your own using a wire jig as shown below.

Place your jig pins to make the design you desire.

Start with a loop on the bottom from which you will dangle the large pull bead. My estimate is that the kit wire is about 12-gauge which is too thick for most beads. Making your own has two advantages: it will cost you about 50 cents; and you can use a thinner gauge wire (15 to 18-gauge is good).

The design on the jig is a replica of the kit design at top; but use your imagination.

If you are using a thinner gauge wire, you will want to harden the design by placing the finished piece on a block of wood, covering with cloth and tapping firmly with a small hammer.

Round nose pliers
Needle nose pliers
Wire Cutter
1 large jump ring (or make your own using the round nose pliers and 15-gauge wire)

Ceiling Fan Charm Directions

The rest is easy. If you’re a beginner with beads, these tips may be helpful.

Attach the bottom charm or bead using a large jump ring. String your bead design onto the pin. Form a closing loop at the top of the pin. Before closing it completely, slide the loop of the kit's pull chain on.

If you're working from scratch, form a closing loop as above and slide the loop of the ball crimp bead on before closing completely. Put a dab of Goop or other strong household glue inside the ball before crimpimg it over the bottom ball of the fan pull chain.

Hi Eileen,

Where can I order the Ceiling Fan and Light Pull charm kits that are shown in The Artful Crafter? Is that something you sell?

Thanks,

Shaaron

Hi Shaaron,

I make my beaded fan pulls from scratch.

If you want to make your own and prefer to start with the kit, you can find them at Create for Less.

Just type “Darice Fan Pull” into the search box.
