Color-Coordinated Celebrate Card
How to Digitally Recolor Elements to Make Everything Match

We’re planning a party for my BIG birthday coming up Christmas Eve. [Hint: I will qualify for Social Security. Yay!]
I wanted a design that conveys a festive occasion without saying I’m giving a party for myself. ‘Cause you know what people do then - they feel they must bring gifts.
I didn’t want a holiday theme either. Been there; done that. All I could think of was garlands and party hats.
Then I remembered this really festive kit I had downloaded from Nana’s Attic for free a while back.
This card uses papers and embellishments from (Nana) Anita’s ALP Foofaraw2 kit. The decorative ribbon flower was a lovely light red but didn’t go well with the rest of my layout. I had fun re-coloring it in Photoshop.
To totally change the color of any selection (whether that be the entire active layer or something you select on a layer using the Marquee, Magic Wand or Lasso tool), just click Image>Adjustments>Hue/Saturation. In the pop-up box you’ll see three sliders: Hue; Saturation; and Lightness.
I chose this golden hue to pick up the little bit of golden yellow in the swirl-y paper, as well as to contrast with the dark red background paper. I upped the Hue to +33, the Saturation +32 and the Lightness +6.
Though it sounds like math, it’s really just playing with the sliders until you get a look you like. Pure fun!
