Painted Fabric Ornaments

This project was quite fun.

The fabric paint has the texture of cake icing, so this was kind of like decorating a cake. Think of Christmas motifs that would look good with the puffiness.

I like my snow-covered Christmas tree the best.

To make a design around the center of the ball (like the Merry Christmas or dotted ones), use a rubber band as a guide.

Fabric Paint Tips

  • The finer the tip, the better control you will have;
  • Shake well and invert the bottle for a bit so that air bubbles can rise to the top and the paint will come out smoothly;
  • Practice on paper first;
  • If you get a little air "burp", you can wipe it away quickly with a damp paper towel;
  • If a smudge should dry before you can wipe it away, wait until the ornament is completely dry and scrub away the mistake with a kitchen scrubby made of green fiber.
