Repainting Clay Pots

Don't Throw it Out
Make it Match with Ceramcoat Air-Dry PermEnamel Paint
Recycle Accessories that no longer suit your décor with Delta Ceramcoat Air-Dry Ceramic Paint.
We recently had our outdoor wicker furniture cushions reupholstered.
I was quite pleased with the updated look but now had a bunch of decorative accessories that paled by comparison.

I thought what fun it would be to paint them to match the new décor.
I chose the stripe of the pillow as the base for the new design. Here's how.
Materials Needed
- Fabric design to be copied
- Clay pots or plates
- Delta Ceramcoat Air-Dry PermEnamel Paint in the colors you need
- Delta Air-Dry Thinner (Though PermEnamel paint is water clean-up, directions say not to use water to thin the paint as this would degrade its durability. After curing, PermEnamel paint is dishwasher, microwave and oven safe.)
- Tape measure
- Pencil
- Artist paint brushes
Instructions

Measure the width of each stripe and use the pencil to replicate the design onto the clay surface.
A flexible tape measure as a guide allows you to conform "straight" lines to the curved surface.

Here is the plate ready for painting with the stripe design completely marked out.
Paint the stripes to match the fabric pattern.
Don't be concerned if you go outside the lines from time to time. The paint dries quite quickly and is opaque, so it is easy to go back and touch up areas painted earlier as necessary.
If you are painting a lot of surface areas as I did here, use the PermEnamel Thinner to keep the paints at a good consistency.
I painted the pots freehand using the same colors but different patterns for a bit of whimsy.
