Handprints
An Inexpensive and Easy Project to Get Children Involved in Crafting
Do you have any craft ideas for using either paper plates or wooden craft sticks for children’s projects? I am doing an after school program and would like to get some ideas.
Also, do you know a saying that I could have the kids put with a handprint?
Thank you,
Shelley
I found some great resources for you! Enchanted Learning is a really neat site on kids’ crafts.
It is organized by project type, as well as by material. So you can search for "handprint" as well as "paper plates". Under handprints, they have a rainbow, a Christmas wreath, a Christmas tree and many more.
They don’t have any craft stick projects right now, so try the next site for those, Family Crafts.
On the one hand, if your handprint project is the simple handprint at a certain age, I’ve never seen a quote used, only the child’s name and the date of the print. However, you could put "Made with Love" referring both to the print and the child making it.
If, on the other hand (sorry, I couldn’t resist), the project is more along the lines of the first site above – using several prints to create a picture - you could use a quote appropriate to the picture.
For example, for the wreath: "May you be Wreathed with Love"; for the rainbow: "Many Hands Make Light Work".
I saw the question about the kids crafts and handprints. You said you did not know of a saying to put along with the handprint. I have one.
Handprints
because I am so small
and always leave my fingerprints
on furniture and walls.
But everyday I'm growing
and I'll be grown-up someday
and all those tiny handprints
will surly fade away.
So here's a special handprint
just so you can recall
exactly how my fingers looked
when I was very small.
Hope this is helpful.

Thank you very much for this beautiful verse. I'm sure many moms and grandmoms would love a handprint with your verse on it.
