The Crafting-for-Profit Life
Crafting-for-profit is rewarding and fun but demanding.
Beth of Beth’s Boutique started an ongoing discussion about finding time for crafting and balance between your art and other responsibilities.
I forwarded her the information about FlyLady which another reader sent in and she wrote back these words of wisdom on the crafting-for-profit life.
I couldn’t have said it better.
The other day my sister-n-law was asking a couple of questions about the craft trade and if it would be right for her.
I told her I would help her wherever possible and that it has been very rewarding for me.
Another thing I had to mention to her was the mess that your house gets into in no time at all and that if you value a clean and tidy house that this is probably not for you.
You have your piles for your crafts, piles for your bills, piles for what still has to be done and what you are currently working on, what you have to read pertaining to the business, piles for your up and coming craft shows and so on and so on and so on.
It’s never ending.
I've been doing all this for over ten years now and it comes as second nature, but the truth of the matter is I am still a one woman show.
When I fall asleep at the end of the day I wouldn't want it any other way.
Is it a simple way of living? No, but anything that is rewarding and worthwhile takes lot of blood, sweat and tears.
Thank you Eileen for the website [FlyLady.net] and I will go on it and get some helpful tips and hopefully a cleaner house, office, sewing room and beading space!
