How to crochet little appliqué flowers to adorn whatever you like

Tack stitch these darling little flowers on clothing and afghans.

Or glue them to picture frames, decorative boxes and indoor flower pots. Make magnets out of them. There are endless possibilities.

Crocheted Flowers Materials

  • Knitting worsted yarn in your choice of color
  • Size G crochet hook

The examples show two different flowers.

The first is a single flower about 2" in diameter. The second is a string of smaller flowers (about 1 ½ inches across). Make a chain of as many as you like in one continuous strand. Form them into a bouquet later ... or not. It’s all up to you.

Chain 10; slip stitch into the first chain (10th stitch from the hook).

Chain 4, do a half double crochet into the ring just created, chain 4 and slip stitch into the ring again (first petal created). Continue the above until there are 6 petals ending with a slip stitch into the ring.

Tie off leaving a small tail of yarn.

If attaching these crocheted flowers to fabric, use a spot of Fray Check on the beginning and ending knots..

Cut off the tails and do small tacking stitches..

If attaching them to an afghan or baby blanket, run the tails through to the backside of the afghan weaving them through the stitches and tying off. Use Fray Check to secure your knots. Use small tacking stitches on each petal to hold in place.
