Free Art for Decoupage

Affordable Decoupage

I'm looking for information where I can download pictures or paper I can print out and use for decoupage projects.

I love this craft, but am low on money and I am trying to cut down in costs so I don't have to give it up.

Any help would be much appreciated.

Thank you,

Julia

You don't have to spend a lot of money getting pictures for decoupage projects, especially if they're only for personal use. (If you plan to sell your projects, be sure to conform with copyright laws.)

You can start with magazines. Cut out pictures you like. Go to the library and get art books that interest you. Photocopy the pictures you like.

All pictures in the "public domain", generally all material published before 1923 (check with a lawyer if you plan to use this kind of material commercially, especially overseas) as well as all material published by the federal - not necessarily individual state's - government can be used. This would include all the "grand masters' works as well as contemporary pictures from NASA or other federal entities.

For more sources of material do a web search on "copyright free pictures", public domain pictures" or simply "free pictures."

For more sources of free decoupage material please read this article, Decoupage Patterns. If you are using pictures you print out on your computer, read this article on how to prevent ink bleeding problems.

Here is a list of all decoupage related articles on The Artful Crafter.
