Decoupage a Skateboard
Finishes That Stand Up to Use
How to Create a Super Durable Decoupage Finish
Can you help me with directions/products to use to decorate a wooden skateboard with multiple photos (one of each child in a class) with their signatures next to their photo?
This is a class project for a school auction.
I read about
printing up the photos on laser/inkjet paper and sealing them with
Krylon Crystal Clear Spray .
I am not sure what to use for the signatures, but was thinking Sharpie pens.
Will they bleed? How should I best seal it for durability and waterproofing?
Thank you. I am a novice.
Jenni
I would do the very same pre-sealing for the signatures.
Use Sharpie Permanent Markers . Let dry a few minutes and spray on two coats of Krylon, letting dry between coats.
Since you will pre-seal both the photos and the signatures, you can assemble the entire collage first.
Glue everything down.
Then apply the Krylon.
If the skateboard will be exposed to the elements, read the advice I gave another reader about Outdoor Finishes for Decoupage .
If the skateboard will actually be ridden, you might want to read this article on Decoupage Finishes for Commercial Use .
Good luck with the auction!
