Fabric Decoupage
Helpful Hints

Since paper is the only source used in decoupage, what about using fabrics?
How can you decoupage/paste or apply cotton fabrics to ceramics?

No problem. I've done lots of decoupage using fabric. The technique is really no different than for paper.
Test for color fastness in an inconspicuous spot. If the colors don't run, just go ahead and decoupage.
If they run, pre-seal with clear acrylic spray. I swear by Krylon Crystal Clear.
The thicker the fabric, the more decoupage media will be required.
I recommend Liquitex Super Heavy Gel or Liquitex Gloss Medium.
Golden also has some very good decoupage media.
I've even used decoupage medium on fabric alone, shaping the fabric to my whim.
This article on how to make Freeform Fabric Candle Holders includes a tutorial for decoupaging fabric onto a hard surface.
[ Note that I was using Mod Podge at the time. For any project which may be subjected to moisture, I've switched to Liquitex because it reaches a harder cure. ]
Ceramic does not present any special requirements. You'll find many ceramic and glass decoupage articles on my Decoupage Article Index page.
