I have made decoupage plates using fabric and acrylic paint on the back of the fabric.
My finished project has bubbles at the edge of the plate and the fabric is coming away.
Is there anything I can do to fix those bubbles or hold the fabric down? I had planned on giving these as gifts. Other than that, the plates look great!
I painted the glass plate with Mod Podge and then applied the fabric, then coated it again with two coats of Mod Podge. Then I painted the back with acrylic paint and used Krylon sealant.
Any helpful hint would be greatly appreciated.
I have actually tried using the Mod Podge where the fabric is coming away at the edge of the plate and used a clothes pin to hold it down.
This seems to have helped. I thought I would try to trim the edge a little and then paint the rim.
Thanks for any suggestions!!!
Sandy
You did exactly what I would have in trying to re-glue.
If it still doesn't hold tight, try undiluted PVA glue like Elmer's. They now have an archival version. PVA is the same base as Mod Podge but thicker.
I would use Delta PermEnamel paint to do the trim. It air dries to a hard cure and would help keep moisture away from the Mod Podge.
I’m sure your friends will love their custom made plates.
