Vintage Look Decoupage
Dressing Up A Poster
I've got a craft project in mind but I'm not 100% sure how to carry it out successfully. I've purchased an old poster print (La Boheme) and would like to hang it on my wall.
However, I'd like to mount/frame it in such a way that it will continue to look vintage.
I've been thinking about using Mod Podge to put it on a slab of MDF (medium density fiber board) because I like the idea of having the texture show through a bit.
However, I've never worked with MDF before and don't want to get in over my head, nor do I want to ruin my poster.
Do I need to seal it first? What should I use?
Do you have any tips or other suggestions I should consider.
I will REALLY appreciate any help, tips, or steps you can share.
Thanks!
Christina

I like your idea of retaining the vintage look.
Be sure to use the matte (non-glossy) version of Mod Podge.
If you want a finish coat for increased durability, make that matte as well. I use Krylon Matte Spray.
A nice finish touch would be to add gold leaf along the edges as I did on these Decoupaged Coasters. If you've never applied gold or silver leaf before, you can buy everything you need in the Mona Lisa Gold Leafing Kit which makes it as easy as pie.
