I would like to know more about the art of decoupage: how to make it, the commercial possibilities etc.
With Regards
Thanking You,
Haridas
Wow, that’s like the exam question of our nightmares, Summarize the history of the world in 100 words or less.
There’s so much one could say about decoupage, I hardly know where to begin. In fact I’ve already written volumes on the subject!
Use the search box. Type in decoupage and select the little button under the search bar that says Site Search . Then press Search.
You’ll find over 126 references to decoupage in our site alone. Each one appears with a brief description of what you will find if you click on that selection. There is a wealth of information that addresses some of the questions you posed.
As for commercial possibilities, read about the decoupage art of Kay Davies, our resident decoupage artist. You’ll find pictures of her work as well.
Kay moves from one form of decoupage to another and makes a nice supplemental income with it. Right now, her small decoupage wall plaques are very popular in our area and she gets many commissions for her work.
Also check out the articles in the For Profit section for tips on how to profit from any type craft.
If you’re serious about making a living with decoupage art, you really should read some of Durwin Rice’s books. Mr. Rice has been described as “America’s foremost practitioner of decoupage” and makes a very good living with his art.
His books contain many beautiful and inspiring photos, tips on techniques learned over years of experience and novel product ideas. I recommend you start with his first book New Decoupage, which contains the story of how he built a thriving business from his love of glue.
