Here is a basic pattern for the ever-popular door hanger. Craft foam is the ideal material for making these. I prefer to work
with hot glue; but you can use tacky glue instead, especially if you’re doing this project with the kids.
The example has two messages: “Shhh! Mom napping” on one side and “Shhh! Baby napping” on the other.
Other two-sided designs might be “Pop-Pop” and “Grammy napping” or “Dad” and “Mom napping” or even the ever-popular with teenagers "Keep Out" in different designs.
As well, you make cute messages for your kids’ rooms. One side: “This room is clean” and the other “Clean this room!” Or how about “Honor Roll Student Sleeps Here” and “Go Team!”
If you don’t want to cut out all the tiny embellishments, they can be purchased pre-cut from Create for Less. Just type “Darice foam” into their search box.
You’ll find sports theme foam stickers as well as things like hearts, stars and letters.

How to Make the Door Hanger
Right click on the pattern and select Copy. Open a new document in Word or your graphic program and Paste the pattern from your clipboard.
Stretch it
proportionately (by dragging one of the corners) to fill the page so that the door hanger is 3 ½ by 7 inches. Print.
Cut apart the pattern pieces.
Use glue stick to adhere the pattern pieces to your choice of craft foam colors. Cut out the pieces. Peel away the paper and assemble the door hanger.
Hot glue the pieces in place.
If you want to do the "Baby Napping" hanger, go to the pattern for a baby shower invitation. Copy and Paste it into a document as before and adjust the size to fit the door hanger.
