“Costume” Earrings
Do you have any outfits that you just can’t find the right earrings for? Or do you have a cute pattern on, say, a shirt of which you would love to have matching earrings.
For example, I have two tropical shirts with the same pattern but different background colors.
The design is a scattering of postcard beach scenes, tropical flowers and tropical-theme postage stamps. I thought the stamps would make cute matching earrings for both shirts.
I selected a stamp which says “Barbados Experience” and scanned it into Adobe Photoshop
.
I rotated the canvas to get it vertical (Image>Rotate); then used the Crop tool with Perspective checked so I could correct the slight skewness of the original. Next I enlarged the canvas (Image>Canvas Size), adding one inch to both the height and the width.
I created a new layer for the scalloped stamp border, selected the Brush tool and loaded Mandy Steward’s Layer your own Postage Stamp brushes from Scrap Girls.
Using the Eyedropper tool, I selected a pink from the Barbados stamp design for the brush and stamped the design.
I put it on a new layer so that I could adjust the size to exactly frame my Barbados stamp (Edit>Transform>Scale). You need to double-click to apply the transformation. Next I cropped away the excess and saved the file as a JPEG.
I finished my earrings in PrintShop because I find it easier to lay out a single page there.
