Add a few special embellishments, and your Easter cards will be the talk of the Easter feast!
The Easter Color Scheme
Springtime is alive with color. Flowers begin to bloom, new leaves grace tree branches, and fresh blades of grass shoot up from the earth. The air is still chill, but there’s gentle warmth to the season, which is why pastels reflect the spring so brilliantly.
For Easter cards, choose pale yellow, light pink, baby blue, cool lavender, and soft green. These colors, which make up the springtime and Easter palette, are gently relaxing, but spirited enough to encourage a holiday smile.
Easter Card Shapes, Images, and Pictures
Easter comes with plenty of images and symbols which are perfect for cards. It is, of course, primarily a religious holy day - the most important one on the Christian calendar. The day is a celebration of re-birth and renewal. Religious themes need not dominate however. Renewal and rebirth is also apparent in the melting of the snows of winter and the blossoms popping out of the ground.
Cutouts, stamps, and stickers, as well as handmade and artistically drawn images add the Easter effect to the front panel of a homemade card.
If you can’t find just the right image for your card, check your computer, and be sure to search the Internet for clipart, which can be printed, cut out, or used for templates.
Here are some images to look for:
- Religious symbols, crosses, etc.
- Brightly colored Easter eggs
- Bunnies and chicks
- Baskets stuffed with green grasses and goodies
- Designs, such as borders and backgrounds, in the Easter color scheme
- Pictures of flowers, especially those associated with Easter, tulips, lilies and more.
Easter Card Embellishments
Using embellishments with card crafting is a wonderful way to add dimension and interest for any season.Easter embellishments can be created out of pretty pastel ribbons, tied up into bows and placed atop an egg.
Cutouts of felt bunnies and chicks add texture and depth to a card cover.
You can even pluck fresh grasses, or use flower petals and stems to create fresh, natural additions to your card decorations. Be sure to use a preservative on organic materials, or look for synthetic versions in your local craft store.
