Make a cute Easter Bunny decoration out of stacked craft boxes.
The kids will be delighted by this cute little bunny.
Fill the boxes with an assortment of Easter treats such as cookies, candies and nuts.
Watch the youngsters dissemble and reassemble him over and over again. After Easter, it will look darling on a young child’s dresser, while an older girl may want to put it to use as a jewelry box.
Or simply store it away to come out again next spring.

Assmebling the Box Easter Bunny
Prepping the Boxes
1. Starting with the bottom box and lid, paint them completely white. It will take two to three coats. Let dry completely between each coat. The inside is not painted since it will hold food items.
2. When completely dry, paint grass all around the bottom of the box. Next paint flowers coming from the grass but leave a 2” area free of flowers where the bunny’s tummy will be.
3. Using the acrylic sealer, seal the entire outside of the box and lid. Set aside.
4. On the middle box and lid, paint one coat of white. Then paint two to thee coats of pink for the shirt. Again completely seal the box and lid. Set aside.
5. On the top box and lid do the same as for the bottom box leaving it completely white. Seal and set aside.
Creating the Ears, Nose, Arms and Feet
[Note: For all blanket stitching, use doubled thread.]
1. Right click on the template above and paste it into a document or graphic file. Stretch it to a size suitable for your boxes and print. Use the printed template to cut out all the parts needed. The feet, arms and ears are white. The toes, bottom of foot and nose are pink. The carrot is orange and the top is green.
2. Refer to the photo below to complete the felt pieces.
3. Working on just the feet; set two pieces aside for later. On the two remaining, glue three toes on the notched end of each foot. Then glue on the large pad for the bottom of the foot on both pieces. Let the glue dry completely before stitching together.
4. When the feet are dry, place a top and sole together right sides out and sew a blanket stitch all around leaving a one-inch opening for filling. Push a small amount of fiberfill into each foot until just slightly puffy. Stitch each opening closed with the blanket stitch. Glue each foot to the bottom box as shown in the picture.
5. Do the same for the arms using the blanket stitch and a small amount of fiberfill. Glue them on the middle box as shown in the picture. Don’t worry just where as you will line everything up later.
6. For the ears, use a makeup brush and some pink blush to run a dash of blush down the middle of each ear. Run a dab of glue at the bottom of the ears where the fold line is shown and pinch together making a dart and curving the ears just a little. Set aside to dry.
7. Make the carrot as you did the feet and arms using green thread to stitch together. After stuffing and closing, go back and do some small running stitching across the carrot here and there to simulate the natural look of a fresh-picked carrot.
Final Assembly
1. Glue the greenery to the top of the carrot with just a small line of glue. When this is dry glue the carrot just inside one of the arms as shown.
2. Glue the ears standing up on the very top lid. They may need to be propped up until they dry.
3. Add the foam eggs along the very bottom of the bottom box. On the back glue the cotton balls together or one large white pompom to make the bunny tail.
4. Add the rhinestones to the middle box and using just one color, add a row down for the buttons.
5. Glue the wiggle eyes and the nose onto the top box.
6. Draw on the mouth and dashes above each eye with a black marker.
7. Use a finger to add a dab of pink paint for the rosy cheeks.
8. Run a small line of glue around the ears and lay the eyelash trim down around the ears to simulate bunny fur standing up. Glue the end in place.
9. Place the lids on each box.
10. Glue the boxes together being sure to line up the shirt buttons between the bottom feet and the face lined up with the buttons on the shirt.
11. Let the assembled bunny box dry completely.
12. Tie the ribbon around the neck in a bow, gluing it in place if needed.
