I guess the good news is their teams won’t be playing against each other for either’s homecoming!
I can only give you my opinion and I am not a teenager – not by a long shot - LOL. Your daughter’s boyfriend’s situation is pretty clear. He will be going to his school and attending his school’s game; so his mum garter should reflect his school.
It would be nice to add a touch to reflect his girl’s school.
How about stick-on letters running down one of the ribbons with his initials in his school colors, your daughter’s initials in her school colors and a heart between the two?
For your daughter’s mum corsage, find a color ribbon somewhere between red and orange and use that as the main color. Use white ribbon to match the mum for the background ribbons.

The eye’s perception of an individual color is effected by the surrounding colors as well. Notice how the corsages in the photos blend in with the frame color. The corsage blends in whether it is surrounded by a sea of red or of orange.
The only changes are the main “HOMECOMING 08” ribbon and the mum centerpiece.
For her school colors, the ribbon is white on red and for his, it is white on black.
The school day mum centerpiece should reflect her school. For the game, it can be replaced for one reflecting his team or school.
I would mount the centerpieces on pinch clips so they can be switched out easily. For the game, I would staple his school color ribbon right on top of hers before the game, hiding the staples under the mum. Then I would put a couple dabs of glue-stick glue along the back of “his” ribbon and press it against “hers” so that “hers” will not fly into view as she moves or the wind blows.
This would be quite a unique mum corsage for your daughter to display on her bedroom wall for years to come!
