Label Tricks
How to Make Labels of Any Size from a Large Sheet

My friend, Lauri, sells my Folies earrings in her gallery. When she called to order new gift stickers with her gallery's logo, she also told me she'd sold out and needed more earrings. How nice!
The call brought to mind that both these products employ special little tricks or trade secrets that I could share with you.
The Folies earrings are printed from the computer. How can you print earrings from a computer you ask? Here are my secret directions.
As for the tricky stickers ... I can make any size Lauri wants using full sheet label stock purchased in bulk. By doing this, I save money and have more control of my design space.
Full sheets give me more flexibility in terms of placement and printing to the edge.
The thing to realize about customizing labels or stickers is that every one must be "peel-able". The full sheet labels have one vertical slit. To make small labels easy to use, you need a vertical slit on the back of each column of stickers.
After printing, lay each sheet upside down. Peel the right side of the backing about halfway up. You can easily see where each column of stickers is.
With scissors, cut a vertical slit for the columns that lack a slit. Only go halfway up the paper. Smooth the strips you have created back down. Repeat with the left side.
Rotate the sheet of stickers and repeat the process on the other half. When you cut all the stickers apart, every one will have a slit that makes it easy to remove the paper backing.
