How to Make Cloth Sew On Labels Using Your Computer
Make Your Own “Designer” Clothing Labels
You can design and print your own labels like the ones in the
picture using cotton bias tape and your computer printer.
The ink is not colorfast; so if the item will be laundered, be sure to set the ink using Bubble Jet Set and Rinse.
Load a blank landscape orientation document into PrintShop or whatever graphics program you use.
Using guidelines, divide the page into 18 labels 3 ½ inches long and 1 ¼ inches wide. Each will be folded in half to form a double-thick label with a front and a back.
Design your label in one of the blocks. I inserted my logo “Designs with Style by Eileen” on one side and my e-mail address on the other.
Copy and paste your label design to the other 17 blocks. For precision placement, read the section of How to Position Multiple Copies on a Page about creating two-sided graphics.
Print a paper copy to form a template. Iron your bias tape flat and cut into 11-inch strips.
Use a glue stick to adhere the strips to the paper template. The template shows you where they need to be.
Print. Strip the printed bias strips away from the paper. Cut them apart.
Fold each label in half and secure with a glue stick.
