Cute Christmas Ornament

Baby Snowman Clay Pot Ornament Materials

How to Make the Ornament

Use Tacky glue to glue the two pots together top to top.

Roll a ¾-inch ball of Sculpey clay for the head. Flatten the bottom on your work surface.

Make two ¼-inch clay balls for the arm areas and a very tiny cone shape ¼-inch long for the carrot nose. Set aside.

In your garden find two little twigs about 7/8" long.

Paint a coat of the varnish/sealer on the twigs to strengthen them. When dry, push the larger of the two ends of each twig into the small balls of clay to form a hole for gluing later. Set the twigs aside.

Place the head, arm balls and the nose on a metal sheet or piece of foil and bake at 275 F for 15 to 20 minutes. Let cool completely before handling.

Take a very small straw hat or basket (with the handle removed ) which will fit the snowman’s head and paint it black.

When dry, thread the needle with silver thread and go down into the hat and back up again to create a hanging loop.

Tie the ends in a knot and cut off close to the knot. Using the Elmer’s glue, place a tiny white feather on the side of the hat.

Use Tacky glue to glue the head to the bottom of the top pot. Glue the two small balls with the hole in them on each side. Paint the body and head with two coats of white paint.

Paint tiny black dots for the buttons, eyes and mouth using the tip of a pencil.

Paint a scarf around the neck and down the front in red. When dry, paint a coat of the Sparkle Varnish on the entire body and head.

Put a dot of Elmer’s glue at the top of the scarf and place a green rhinestone.

Glue the hat on the head using Tacky glue for extra strength.

Paint the carrot nose orange and glue in place.

Glue the twigs into the holes created in the balls of clay. Let the ornament dry for three hours before hanging.
