Mom u Rock Paperweight

A Special Mother's Day Gift

Make a Special Paperweight for Mom

This is a great simple gift for the kids to make for mom on her special day.

"Mom u Rock" Paperweight Materials

• Smooth flat sided stone – any size
• Delight air dry clay in white
• Small plastic bag
• Clay rolling pin or heavy glass
• Aleene’s Quick Dry Tacky Glue
• Acrylic paints in gray and brown
• Alphabet stamps
• Fine point permanent markers in red & green or colors of choice
• Small bowl of water

Making the Paperweight

Place enough clay into the plastic bag to cover the rock. The layer should be about ¼” thick for stamping later.

Place a few drops of the gray and brown acrylic paint into the bag with the clay and knead the clay until the paint is mixed in but not completely. This will leave some variation in the color looking almost like marble.

Roll out to flatten with a clay rolling pin or a heavy glass.

Make sure the sheet is large enough to completely cover the rock.

Cover one side of the rock with Tacky Glue. Set this side down on the rolled out clay.

Now cover the rest of the rock with the glue and continue to cover the rock with the clay.

Use a small amount of water on a finger to smooth out any seams or rough areas.

Using the rubber stamps, stamp out Mom U Rock.

If desired, the child can incise his/her name and the date on the underside of the rock using a stylus or empty ball point pen.

Let the rock dry a couple hours and then take a permanent marker and go over all the letters to highlight them.

Let the rock dry 24 hours.
