Holiday Craft Wine Glass Charm Pattern

This is a very quick and easy craft project for those last minute hostess gifts or to have on hand when some friends bring you a
gift and you hadn’t had them on your list. Oops.

You need: ring-size memory wire; glass beads; “end caps” and glue; and charms.

“End caps” is in quotes because you can use round crimp beads or plastic beads as end caps (as I did in the charms in the photo). I don’t recommend the pre-bent wire rings for wine glass charms (with the little hook that needs to be inserted in the teeny loop to lock them onto the glass stem). Memory wire holds just fine and the charms are sooo much easier to put on and remove.

The charms I found are flat plastic resin figures not intended to be charms. So I glued jump rings on the backs. However, there is a wide variety of charms available. Check CreateForLess for a wide assortment of charms at rock bottom prices.

Hurry, because the Christmas designs are selling out fast; though the company provides the option for you to be contacted as soon as a new shipment arrives. Look for charm assortments because you need a different design for each ring in a set.

How to Make the Wine Glass Charms

Cut a circle of ring memory wire. Glue an end cap or bead on one end. “String” several beads with a charm dangling in the center. Glue an “end cap” on the other end. What could be simpler!

I’ve also seen wine charms that loop around the wine glass several times. Again I think these are too much trouble for a hostess to use, so I recommend you not waste your time and materials. We all want our creations to be used and displayed, right? Not to be an annoyance that no one wants to deal with.

If you need tools, beads, charms or wire to complete this project, visit Joann's Jewelry & Beading section. They have everything you need, including unusual hand-made crystal beads, silver or gold charms, watch faces, wire or tools for a jewelry project.

You can use this craft idea for any holiday or even everyday use. Just purchase the appropriate charm to add to the loop. Rabbits for Easter, flowers for Valentine's Day, etc. It depends on what kinds of charms you can find.

For everyday use, charms such a grape bunches, wine glasses, kitchen utensils, etc work fine.

Cheers!
