How to Assemble the French Maid Pattern
Right click on the pattern and select Copy. Open a new document in Word or your graphic program and Paste the pattern from your clipboard.
Stretch it proportionally (by dragging on one of the corners) so that the maid’s dress is 7 ¼ inches tall.
Trace both halves of the maid’s dress onto the gray craft foam with a pen and cut out. Repeat for the apron using the white craft foam.
Run a short line of hot glue along part of the back edge of the apron. Position and press the apron trim, curving it as you go. Continue to glue, position, and press until the apron is completely trimmed.
Hold the dress to the front of a wine bottle to determine the length and placement of the collar.
Hot glue collar to dress. Hot glue apron to dress. Form a bow from the 7-inch piece of cord and hot glue to the point of the collar.
Center the long piece of cord at the center of the apron top and hot glue. Continue gluing the sash to the dress from each side of the apron to the point at the maid’s back.
Form the 4-inch piece of stretchy cord around the wine bottle top making sure it will be secure.
Hot glue the overlap of the cord ends together. Hot glue a 1- to 1 ½-inch pointy piece of lace over the overlap.
