Sell Your Artwork on Snapfish

birthday card sample

I am so happy to find your site I could dance a jig!

My question is regarding submitting art/cards to become a designer/seller on Snapfish. They state work must be done in Photoshop/Photoshop Elements.

Do you know what their requirements are? Do I add my own photo as a demo on my photo-card design? Do I simply do a do 5 x 7 card design and submit?

I can't find any info and they don't offer much on their site.

Thanks!

Pamela

Thank you for the compliments! I'm imagining you dancing the jig as I write this. lol.

I'm not a Snapfish expert, but I'm pretty good at finding my way around a website and interpreting the terms of use.

There appear to be three ways you can submit your art or photos to Snapfish and make money each time someone uses your design or photo.

1. Earn Commissions with Card Layouts Designed for Photo Inserts

If you click on Browse All Cards you can see the many card formats available and under each is the name of the SnapFish designer who contributed it.

These are all card layouts designed to have personal photos inserted by the purchaser.

2. Earn Commissions with Card Layouts Designed to be Personalized without Photos

This is a new venture for Snapfish and, I think, the option you are interested in.

Snapfish says, "For the first time, we are also offering cards that do not require a photo for personalization ... At Snapfish, you can find photo cards and non-photo cards for any holiday" or other occasion like "Graduation Announcements, Birthday Invitations, Party Invitations, Baby Announcements, Baby Shower Invitations, Engagement Announcements and more."

This is where the design space is a blank canvas with no need for you to leave white rectangles to accommodate photos you've never even seen. You do however need to leave spaces for the purchaser's message.

For option 1 or 2, scroll to the bottom and click on Sell with Snapfish Publisher.

3. Earn Royalties Licensing Original Photo Images

You license your images to other Snapfish members and content buyers.

For option 3, scroll to the bottom and click on Sell your photos with Snapfish Stock Images.

How to Submit Your Card Designs

To be considered for a position on the roster of Snapfish card designers (options 1 and 2), you first need to be approved as a Snapfish Publisher by submitting a portfolio of five card designs. There are no fees required.

You may submit the designs as JPGs or Photoshop layered files (PSDs). The five design files should total less than 5MB.

Since there is no contract in place at this point, you want to protect your copyright. I recommend you submit your designs:

  • As JPG files (not layered PSD files that could easily be deconstructed for the individual parts);
  • At resolution of 72 psi (which is fine for viewing onscreen, but not acceptable quality for printing); and
  • Sized as they would be printed, e.g. 5 x 7 inches (for representative viewing of how the card will appear).

Formatted this way, the total file size will likely be around 500KB and efficient to send by email.

If your submission is approved, you'll receive an account and information to register with Snapfish Publisher.

Once you're registered and have access to the Snapfish Publisher portal page, you'll find all the information you need in an easy to follow format. There are some legalities to take care of first; but you'll very quickly get to the fun part - uploading your card designs for sale.

As you noted in your question, only Photoshop/Photoshop Elements layered files are accepted.
