A Quilt Pattern Question

An Easy Way to Recreate a Classic Quilt Pattern

I want to make a "Stickley style" quilt. Do you have any patterns?

Do you mean Gustav Stickley or Jane Stickle? Their designs are quite different. I think you might mean Jane Stickle since her designs as so well known.

If so, visit Quilting Software. There is a picture of the Stickle quilt there and a description of a software program, Dear Jane, that allows you to recreate the original or make up your own variation.

This program also contains articles about the history of the quilt as well as instructions on how to sew one.

If you mean Gustav Stickley, I don’t have any patterns but here is a site that does: eQuiltPatterns.com.

These are quilts that complement Craftsman-style furniture and architecture. Gustav Stickley was a furniture designer in the Arts and Crafts style and editor of The Craftsman Magazine. In 1908 he published an article on quilting titled, Patch Quilts and Philosophy in which he described quilts made by Appalachian quilters.

Stickley favored plain and textured fabrics, such as linen and muslin, decorated with designs from nature in their natural colors. Simplicity was the key. Simple flowers (especially the sunflower), pods, leaves, flower outlines and acorns were popular motifs that he and his followers used.

Another program listed in my quilting software article is Electric Quilt 5, which lets you design just about any type quilt you like. This might help you make a Stickley quilt.

I hope this helps.
