Seasonal Scrapbooking - Summer
Ask any school-aged child what his or her favorite season is and you're sure to hear an exclamation of summer.
Summer is easy to love.
Theme park vacations, trips to the beach, and warm night skies dotted with stars and peppered with fireflies are all inspirations that can be brought directly into your scrapbook.
Here are a few ideas for bringing summer into your scrapbook layouts.
Vacation and Travel
Be sure to capture all your vacation memories, and not just with photos.
Souvenirs like matchbooks, ticket stubs, and luggage tags make great additions to any travel-related layout.
Pick up a few postcards, and stick them to your pages.
Foreign coins and currency also make interesting and unique embellishments.
If you visit a major tourist attraction during your travels, your local craft store is likely to have some theme décor perfect your scrapbook - hot spots like Hawaii, Paris, and Mexico as well as some of the better known theme parks, and all of the beaches are well represented in stickers, stamps, and background papers.
Beaches
What is summer if not a trip to the beach?
Whether your beach runs alongside a river, lake, or ocean, you can reflect lazy days lounging at the water's edge right in the pages of your scrapbook.
Create sky blue pages with sandy-hued borders accented with red, white, yellow, and blue beach balls and umbrellas for a seaside effect.
Lakeside mountains are easily suggested with lush greens and deep browns set against white and blue swirls, reminiscent of a cloudy sky.
Mossy greens and varying shades of grays are great for river scenes.
Try to find flat seashells, bits of moss, and a pretty leaf, which you can use as natural mementos on your pages.
Summer Nights
Twinkling stars, fireflies, and fireworks look great in scrapbooks. Why? Because they are sent against a dark background, which has a natural tendency to emphasize photos.
Night skies can be recreated quite simply in a scrapbook with a black sheet of paper, or try the deepest shades of blue or violet.
A gold, glittery scrapbooking pen is perfect for creating stars and fireflies.
For a dimensional sky, poke small holes in your dark page, and glue varying shades of yellow, gold, and white transparent tissues behind it.
