Seasonal Scrapbooking - Winter

Winter Scrapbooking Themes

A Memorable Time for Photos

The winter season is a busy one. Those dark days and long nights are livened up with endless holiday parties, colorful lights, and cheery music, which dominate the early part of the season.

With all the cool weather, warm clothes, sick days, storms, and ski trips, there’s almost no time left for scrapbooking.

So use this time wisely, and take lots of photos.

Before you know it, the season’s over and by the time spring comes along, you should have a hefty stack of photos and plenty of prime scrapbooking material.

Winter provides photo opportunities galore, so be sure you keep your camera handy.

You never know when Mother Nature is going to present you with a glorious cloud-swept sky or magical snowy landscape.

Sleeping babes with runny noses and school children bundled up in mittens and scarves will later become memorable reflections of when they were young.

Mom in her funny hat and Dad in his oversized goggles, both perched on skis while the kids whiz around on snowboards is a moment you’ll never want to forget, and the holidays… oh the holidays!

Pictures of Christmas trees and presents, ribbons, wrapping paper and more are just begging to be added to your scrapbook.

Yes, keep that camera ready, scrapbookers!

But make sure you always have room for more photos, and develop a habit of keeping your eye on the battery’s charge level. There’s nothing worse than whipping out your camera for a live action shot only to find out your memory card is full or the battery has died.

Make it a point to download your photos as often as possible, and charge your battery every time you use the camera. Better yet, splurge on a backup card and spare battery and keep these in your camera case so you’ll always be prepared.

Be prepared and plan ahead. Whenever you’re attending one of those many holiday parties, plan ahead for some of the photos you’ll want to take.

You might want to get a shot of the fifteen-foot tall Christmas tree in your office lobby so you can display it alongside the shots from your company’s holiday party.

At a family gathering, you’ll want to make a point to snap photos of groups – families and couples – in all their holiday togetherness.

Even a trip to the Christmas tree farm warrants some forethought.

Capture the moments when you’re piling the whole family into the car, trudging through the mud in search of the perfect tree, cutting it down, tying it up, and driving it home.

Get shots of the family erecting the tree in the living room, and decorating it too. You’ll have a great play-by-play and plenty of good will for your winter scrapbook.

Remember, once these events get going, you will be too busy to think clearly about what shots will look great in your scrapbook, so thinking and planning ahead (draft and bring along a list of shots you want to take) will help ensure that you cover all your bases.
