Make All Kinds of Cute Crafts from Simple Mini Clay Pots

You can make dozens of cute shapes using simple little clay pots glued together. This is the first in a series to include:

So while you’re getting supplies for Daddy Snowman, snag a bunch more of this size and smaller pots. I’m sure they will come in handy!

Clay Pot Snowman Instructions

Cut a circle out of the cardboard to fit the bottom of the pot. It may need shaping with scissors to fit it snuggly inside.

clay pot snowman- step one

Push one end of the copper wire through the center of the cardboard circle.

Make a ¼-inch bend at the bottom end of the wire and glue tightly against the cardboard with the Tacky Glue.

When completely dry, run the wire through the pot and out the bottom hole. Glue the cardboard circle in place. This will become the ornament’s hanger.

Glue the two pots together top to top with Tacky Glue. Let dry completely.

Run the copper wire through the Styrofoam ball for the head. Glue in place with Tacky Glue.

Follow the top picture to form the Sculpey clay pieces.

Roll a 1-inch ball for the hat and pinch all around to form a brim. Adjust to fit the head.

When the hat is to your liking, gently push it down over the copper wire to form a hole before baking.

Form a cone about ½ inch long for the nose.

Roll two balls of about large pea size.

Poke a twig into the center of each to make a hole for gluing later.

Bake the hat, nose and arm balls on a metal sheet or foil at 27 5F for 15 to 20 minutes. Let cool completely before handling.

Tacky glue the arm balls on the sides.

Paint two coats of white paint on the body and head.

When dry, apply one coat of Sparkle Varnish.

Paint the hat black with a gold band and a rhinestone to finish off the band. Then coat it with water based varnish.

Slide the finished hat down over the wire and Tacky glue to the head. If the hat doesn’t lay snug, lift it back off and use the "wrong" end of a paint brush and push the top of the Styrofoam ball down so it is flatter.

Use Elmer’s glue to glue the three pom poms down the center front of the top pot to form buttons.

Make black dots for the eyes and mouth with the "wrong" end of a paint brush.

Paint the nose orange and glue into place.

Paint a coat of water based varnish on the twigs to strengthen them and when dry glue them into the arm holes.
