Instructions for Cake

Cut a piece of decorative card stock to wrap around the sides of the tea light. Glue in place and let dry completely.

Using the scalloped scissors or a punch cut out a 1 ¾-inch circle. With the X-acto knife, cut small slits in the center for the light. Use a pencil to push up through the slits to open them upwards.

Cut tiny slits around the scalloped edge so it will lay flat against on the side of the tea light base. Place glue on the top of the tea light base and slide the circle down over the light. Press firmly. Add a small amount of glue under the scalloped edge and press the little tabs down onto the sides until dry.

Cut tiny leaves from the green cardstock or use a silk leaf as shown here. Glue just one end of the tiny leaves around the top of the "cake".

Glue the flowers in place and add a tiny seed bead in the center of each flower.

Supplies for Matching Card

  • Light green card stock 4"x 8" or a color to coordinate with the cake colors
  • Green fine tip marker or pencil
  • Tiny silk or paper flowers
  • Seed beads in same colors as for cake
  • Decorative paper with clouds
  • Scrap decorative paper for flower box
  • Double sided tape
  • Scalloped scissors
  • Scrap green card stock or a green silk leaf
  • Happy Birthday or other greeting stamp
  • Black ink pad

Instructions for the Card

Fold the piece of card stock in half lengthwise to make a 4 x 4-inch card.

Take a small scrap of decorative paper. Cut a rectangle for the flower box; then use scalloped scissors to cut a decorative top edge.

Cut the cloud paper to fit the card; then cut away a small wavy area along the bottom where the green "grass" of the cardstock can show through.

Use double sided tape to adhere the cloud paper and then the flower box.

Take a green fine tip marker and draw stems going up from the flower box. Glue the leaves and flowers on as for the cake. Add the seed bead centers.

Stamp "Happy Birthday" or other message onto another piece of decorative paper. Cut out and tape onto the flower box.

Write a message in the card. You can make an envelope if you wish; but it makes a nice presentation to just set them down together for the recipient to see.
