When I was in junior high and high school, I’d save up my allowance and then spend hours in the five and dime deciding which craft kit to try next.
Here are some teen crafts ideas: crewel, needlepoint, weaving, jewelry making, paper quilling, macramé, candle making, metal embossing … I could go on, but you get the idea. The choices today are many times greater than they were … mumble, mumble … years ago. I think kits are the ideal way to “test drive” a new craft and see if you like it.
Today there are scrapbooking kits. What teen or preteen wouldn’t love putting together a scrapbook display of their last sleepover, birthday party, school production, etc.?
There are also kits to make charm bracelets, watches, handmade paper … you name it.
Why not give your kids a budget and a challenge. “You have x dollars to spend on a craft kit and it must be something you have never tried before.”
Amazon Crafts has a great selection and you can search by age or type of craft.
