When you say Thanksgiving grace, let this lovely bread bowl grace your table.
This is an old idea that I have done several over the past twenty years or so. I just dressed this one up a little more than usual. The options are many when it comes to decorating the bowl.
Thanksgiving Doily Bread Bowl Supplies
Large crocheted doily in your choice of color
Glass, plastic or metal bowl the size needed to fit the doily. The doily should completely cover the outside of the bowl. Consider a fancy shaped bowl for extra design dimension
Fabric stiffener (not starch)
Tin foil or plastic wrap
Adornments of your choice
Doily Bowl Instructions
1. Cover the work area with an old towel doubled or several layers of newspaper.Cover the outside of the bowl tightly with foil or plastic wrap.
2. Soak the doily in the prepared stiffener as directed on the bottle and lay over the outside of the bowl, patting the doily down snug to form a perfect shape of the bowl.
3. Let dry for a least a day and until very stiff.
4. Lift off the bowl and decorate as desired. I used silk flowers and ribbon; then stitched pretty beads along the top edge in colors to match my table.
5. To serve rolls in your bowl, line it with a pretty linen napkin to match your other table linens.
And then, why not make the bowl a gift to a special person at your dinner table that day.
