Windows Vista Problems
Are Graphics Programs Compatible with Vista?
I have Vista Windows and haven't found a version of PrintShop to go with it.
Do you know anyone who has both and do they find them compatible with each other?
It seems like there should be editions for Vista by now but I haven't seen one.
I'd really appreciate any help here.
I found your site through Cyndi Lavin's LayersUponLayers.com.

Windows Vista and now Windows Seven will either not work with - or will work very badly - with older greeting card programs.
Vista was notorious when it first was released for all the problems it caused. Towards the end of its life span it got better and Windows Seven, overall, seems to work well.
In the meantime, the popularity of greeting card programs began to wane. I believe Print Shop 22, which was released only a couple of years ago, was the first version that was fully capable of running on newer versions of Windows. So you would have to buy either that version or version 23 which came out in 2010.
Modern Windows operating systems have a feature that is supposed to make it run with older programs - the "compatability" mode - but my experience is that it doesn't work as advertised.
I used to recommend that those who wanted some of the older graphics programs that have gone by the wayside to look for used copies. I don't think that advice is proper any longer, since the programs will likely not work on anything newer than Windows XP.
All you can do at this point is to check with greeting card software publishers to see if they have come out with versions compatible with Windows Seven or Vista - these publishers rarely release updates of older software.
For printers and scanners, you have to hope the manufacturer has published compatible drivers.
If you have an old XP machine around, you might want to keep it running if you liked the older graphics programs.
