Call it an appliqué, a wall panel or simply a wall hanging. You'll have as much fun piecing together this wall décor for some special little girl's room as she will have gazing at it.
No sewing required! This is the adult version of grade school cut and paste time.

* Yo-yo's are circles of fabric which are stitched around the outer edge. The stitches are then pulled together to form a circle or various other shapes such as flowers. You can make these versatile little embellishments using directions online (search on "how to make fabric yo-yos") or speed things up with an inexpensive Clover Yo-Yo Maker. I used the small flower shape and made the two smaller ones without a yo-yo maker.
** Remember not to use your good fabric scissors when cutting out the Wonder Under as it has a paper backing and paper will dull your good sewing scissors.
How to Make the Wall Hanging

Print and cut out the pattern pieces. Cut out the sun, clouds and the tree trunk (not the limbs - they will be formed with bias tape) from the yellow, white and brown fabric respectively.
Following are two suggested methods for ironing Pellon Wonder Under on the back of each cutout. For either method, start by laying a piece of paper on the ironing board. This will keep Wonder Under glue off the ironing board cover.
1. Cut the Wonder Under using the pattern pieces and then iron into place. Since the Wonder Under is so thin this is a little tricky, especially for the smaller pieces.
2. Rough cut the Wonder Under slightly larger than each pattern. Place a fabric piece face down on the ironing board. Lay the Wonder Under on top of the fabric piece paper side up. Iron them together. Let cool. Use the fabric as a pattern to trim away the excess Wonder Under.
Peel away the Wonder Under backing paper and iron these pieces onto the blue background fabric referring to the picture for placement.
Glue orange ric-rac around the sun.
Iron Wonder Under on the wrong side of the 20 x 14-inch backing fabric. Let cool and then peel the backing paper off the Wonder Under. Lay the 20 x 14-inch piece of light blue fabric right side up (with sun, clouds and tree trunk facing up) on top of the fused backing fabric. Iron again.
Now the blue fabric landscape background and the backing fabric are fused together. It will feel fairly strong - which is good.
Using the tree template as a guide for the tree limbs, glue the brown bias tape in place. This does not have to be perfect as you will be gluing flowers and leaves over the limbs.
Cut apart the flowers on the trim and set aside.

Take a large silk leaf and cut about 55 small leaves out of the large leaf. Freehand cut them into ¾-inch pointed ovals. Glue the leaves down along the branches of the tree and near the ends of each limb.
Tweezers can be used for this application if needed. Do not place them too close together as the flowers will fill in the bare spots. When gluing the leaves just add a dab of glue at one end leaving the rest loose. Then glue the flowers near the leaves. You can add more leaves later for balance if needed.
Cut most of the small flowers from the stems just under the flower. Leave a 1-inch stem on some of them. Pick out a couple flowers that are still on the original stem or bush to add to the garden. Set these aside.
Using the four pieces of green ric-rac, glue stems for the yo-yo flowers where you want them and glue a yo-yo flower at the top of each stem.
Glue a couple large and small silk leaves on the stems. Glue the little buttons in the center of each yo-yo flower.
Glue the little flowers along the bottom of the picture among the larger flowers. Leave ¼ inch free along the bottom edge for the bias tape to be glued.
Glue a little butterfly applique hovering over one of the flowers.
Let dry completely before doing the edging.

Glue the green bias tape along the bottom of the picture lining up the fold along the edge. (The other half will be folded and glued to the back.)
Glue the pink bias tape in the same manner. Leave a 1-inch tail of tape at each corner to fold under when gluing to the back. Let dry completely.
Turn the picture over and starting at the bottom, fold the green bias tape to the back and glue in place. When doing the corners of pink bias tape, fold the ends under before folding and gluing the edging to the back.
You should not see any cut ends on the corners when done.
Let dry overnight.

Place one Command Picture Hanger strip on each of the back top corners following package directions.
