Wire Sculpture Designing

Learn How Easy It Is to Design and Create Wire Sculpture Jewelry

Peridot Wire Scupture Pendant

Wire Sculpture Design Variations

It’s so easy to make unique wire sculpture jewelry that you will
be viewed as a jewelry designer almost from the beginning. Even if you try to follow someone else’s instructions, you will find the wire works differently in your hands.

Any variation in materials will also alter the design.

The peridot pendant on this page was made following this Faceted Gemstone Pendant Design.

However it only vaguely resembles the original since I used a round stone in place of a marquis cut and made the frame more symmetrical. I also used broader swirls to fill the larger oval frame.

This design uses a snapset, a stone to fit and 7 inches of 22 gauge wire.

I love working with snapsets. They not only secure the stone tightly, but also are used to anchor the wire before you start sculpting. This is the perfect project for a beginner.

Funny, my customers think it’s pretty advanced and are really impressed by the intricacy.

Birthstone Wire Sculpture Pendants

Rose Zircon Wire Sculpture Pendant

I like to keep a full set of birthstone pendants on display in my shop. Many people come looking for a special birthday present for a woman-friend but don’t have a clue what to buy. Birthstone jewelry always fit the bill.

Having a variety of stone colors is also advantageous for the many (perhaps majority) of customers who favor one color family. Maybe they’ve had their colors done and so look for cool (blue, violet or green) color stones. Or if their colors are warm, they may prefer red, yellow and amber.

The following list gives the traditional birthstones. If there is a modern variation, it is given in parentheses.

  • January – Garnet
  • February – Amethyst
  • March – Aquamarine (Bloodstone)
  • April – Diamond
  • May – Emerald
  • June – Alexandrite (Pearl or Moonstone)
  • July – Ruby
  • August – Peridot (Sardonyx)
  • September – Blue Sapphire
  • October – Rose Zircon (Opal or Tourmaline)
  • November – Golden Topaz
  • December – Blue Zircon (Turqouise or Lapiz Lazuli)
